Hello! My name is Desire Leah, I am 21 years old, and I come from Kampala, Uganda. I am a friendly, caring, patient, and responsible to young woman who enjoys spending time with children and helping them learn and grow.
I am currently in my second year of studying Business Administration at Makerere University Business School. I love baking, painting, reading, playing football, and doing arts and crafts. I enjoy learning new things, meeting people from different cultures, and making others feel comfortable and happy.
I would love to become an au pair because I enjoy caring for children and would like to experience life in another country, learn a new language, and discover a different culture. I hope to become a valued member of my host family, support the parents with childcare, and create wonderful memories with the children.
Childcare experience
I have six months of volunteer experience as a teaching assistant at Hormisdallen School in Kyebando, Uganda, from late 2024 to early 2025. During this time, I helped care for young children, supported them with their learning and homework, assisted with feeding, played educational games with them, and supervised them during outdoor activities.
I also have experience caring for my younger siblings and cousins. I enjoy helping children learn new things, encouraging their creativity, playing with them, and ensuring they feel safe and cared for.
These experiences have helped me develop patience, responsibility, kindness, and an understanding of children’s needs. I would be happy to use these skills to support a host family and provide loving, attentive care for their children.
Health, allergies, special diets or other information
I have no known allergies and no special dietary requirements. I am happy to enjoy meals with my host family and adapt to the family’s usual mealtime routines.
